EAS-5190
Step-climbing to altitude saved a few tons of fuel; 47-96 kt tailwind also was a *big* boost. Unfortunately these conditions caused a large surplus of available fuel.
EAS-5190
Online winds aloft projections depicted quartering headwinds for much of the cruise phase at FL 370, so configured fuel stores to compensate. A quartering tailwind instead of headwind occurred, resulting in an excess of fuel resources. Ouch!
